Gunman shot dead by Security Officers after opening fire on Federal Courthouse in downtown Dallas6/21/2019 Officers get up every day and report to work knowing they are there to protect and serve the community while risking their own safety in doing so. This is a large undertaking that is very rarely acknowledged and their sacrifices often go unnoticed until their services are required.
On Monday, June 17, 2019, a heavily armed man in a mask and combat gear opened fire with an assault weapon outside of the Earle Cabell Federal Building in Dallas, Texas but was fatally shot before he could injure anyone. More than 300 employees working in the building went home safely due to the heroic efforts of our Local 293 Members. There is a whole range of emotions rippling through our Organization as a result of this incident. Once the initial fear passed and we received confirmation that our Officers were safe, we were immediately filled with pride and gratitude. In recognition of our Officers fearless dedication, thank you for your selfless service. Please know that you are appreciated, respected, and will always have our unwavering support. Sincerely, UGSOA International Executive Board and Staff
